Dental fillings typically fill small cavities in a tooth where decay has been removed. Traditionally dentists have used amalgam to fill small cavities. Amalgam is a mixture of metal materials.
Amalgam fillings can have a downside. As noted in a literature review published in the Journal of Dental Health, Oral Disorders & Therapy, metal fillings can weaken a tooth's strength by up to 50%.
At Orion Dental Dr. Escudero uses a composite of glass and acrylic resin, which is tooth-colored material.
In comparison, inlays and onlays made of porcelain or composite materials can increase tooth strength up to 75% and last between ten and thirty years!
Fillings require one short dental appointment, are less expensive, and are appropriate for small cavities
If you’re suffering from advanced decay or have more filling than tooth structure, it puts your tooth at risk of cracks, breaks, and other issues.
We don’t want that to happen.
Our crowns are designed with a custom approach to restore the strength, health, and aesthetics of your smile. With technologically advanced equipment and extra attention paid to your comfort during treatment, we will ensure that restoring with a dental crown is simple and successful.
Crowns can be placed over an existing tooth structure to improve and protect it ( after a root canal), or a crown may replace a missing tooth, by placing the crown on an implant or a bridge.
At Orion Dental we do all we can to preserve natural teeth, when infection reaches the deep part of the tooth, it's time for a root canal.

Removable partial dentures are a simple solution for the replacement of missing teeth, and avoiding further surgery required for implants.
Removable partial dentures are different from implants because they are not supported by natural teeth. They tend to feel bulky and not very stable.
Because of this, you are encouraged to do your research and become aware during the treatment planning stage. The use of implants can significantly contribute to stability.
Those who have removable partial dentures already will require regular check ups to be sure the gums and jawbone are healthy and the partial denture is well fitting.
Some people choose a low-cost non-invasive solution for tooth loss. Removable complete dentures are prosthetics that rest on top of the gums consisting of an acrylic gum-colored base with denture teeth attached. (also known as false teeth)
Many people find their complete dentures to be a significant improvement to their natural teeth when they become worn or decayed. Removable dentures support the facial muscles of the cheeks and lips and help to maintain a youthful appearance, and dentures support normal speech and function.
The jawbone changes shape quickly when teeth are missing and prosthetics may not fit well, making it difficult to eat certain foods, or they might move around when you speak. With such movement, the gums may become painful with sore spots. It is possible to manage these issues so that removable complete dentures are the solution for those who are not candidates for surgery or do not wish to have dental surgery.
When parts of the jaw become weak, a dental bone graft will strengthen the area. This is usually an outpatient surgery. Bone from another part of your body, or synthetic bone material are both safe options to repair bone loss due to missing teeth, or gum tissue infections.
At Orion Dental we work hard to preserve natural teeth, but when an extraction is needed we are prepared! While this may be upsetting it is only done when absolutely necessary.
